Case study:

Accessible online from anywhere

Libris DAM helps specialist LED tech company organise and maximise use of its digital assets.

At the forefront of the LED lighting revolution, global lighting company, Nualight, designs and supplies smart lighting solutions for the retail, commercial and industrial sectors.

With offices in several countries, Nualight used to have an internal intranet system for sharing files and information. Over time, this system became unwieldy and untidy. Files were held in multiple locations and were of varying quality – some raw, some Photoshopped – with no overall file management structure.

Each country held a lot of local knowledge and this wasn’t always shared effectively across the organisation. As such, images and other digital media were hard to track down or hidden in folders within folders – central marketing had no handle on the image library, and it was a time-consuming and arduous process to locate the correct file for any given use.

Key objectives

  • Consolidate, organise, tag and keyword all digital assets
  • Create and implement a single file management system company-wide
  • Save time repeatedly spent searching for correct assets
  • Have the security of a cloud-based system with restricted access and secure backup

“Libris is the marketing department’s secret weapon.”

Introducing Libris DAM to Nualight

We spoke to Pam Chahal-Harris, VP Global Marketing & Communications at Nualight, and discussed how our Libris DAM system could help by providing a central, cloud-based store of assets that would be easily accessible and searchable, fast and simple to use. The filing structure could be agreed at head office and clear, consistent instructions handed down to all satellites.

After spending way too long hunting for the correct files, images and logos for different departments, Pam was keen to install a new way of working that would maximise the use of Nualight’s digital assets and minimise the amount of time spent looking for them. She wanted to be able to organise their image library yet retain a good degree of flexibility in the way it was managed.

We introduced our DAM system into the company and it quickly brought improvements to day-to-day working life for multiple departments. Most importantly, marketing had the information and data they needed at their fingertips. They knew exactly where their top 100 images were and could see at a glance where they had gaps. And they were able to introduce working practices that mean they have much tighter control over the material used for sales and marketing purposes company-wide.

Key benefits

  • User-friendly and intuitive
  • Accessible online from anywhere
  • Greatly improves efficiency of business processes
  • Scalable and flexible
  • Intelligent search and multiple download options
  • No image-editing software or design expertise required

More than just a virtual filing cabinet

Since the introduction of the DAM at Nualight, Pam has seen many improvements and efficiencies. She explains, ‘It’s really good for workflow. For example, we gave our key photographer access to the DAM, so we had a way of managing our image retouching process systematically. I could comment on his retouches and request changes from within the system rather than have to exit and put everything down on email. This is incredibly useful and enables us to better organise our visual output.

“In addition, because the system has the ability to convert images and videos into multiple graphics formats at the touch of a button, I can have a non-designer download images in the correct format for a particular use without the need for image-editing software. It’s an easy process that can be done instantly!

And because all of the images are tagged, smart folders can be created that are based on a particular search term, tag or filter. These can then be easily shared with the relevant parties – for example, our Australian office can access a folder containing only images taken in Australia – which saves a huge amount of time.”

The DAM at Nualight continues to grow as assets are added and organised and gaps filled. Instant image availability is a huge benefit, and Pam is delighted that ‘images can now be sourced in two seconds, as opposed to two days’. And because it is a cloud-based system, users can access it from anywhere, safe in the knowledge that they have a secure, backed up system. Nualight are delighted with the DAM and are talking to us about related products and services that can improve data management and distribution throughout their entire product and marketing ecosystem.
